“Sometimes you have no choice but to move on, or you run the risk of fading away.”
Monday night had been a disaster. And she wasn't just referring to the fact that Rutgers got their asses kicked.
She didn't want to hurt him like that. She really didn't. She loved him, and she thought that maybe, possibly, they might have a future together, but she wasn't ready to commit to that future just met. They barely knew each other. She wanted to know him better, but that kind of knowing came with time, and they didn't have that kind of time yet. It was too fast, too soon. In fact, they had just said that they loved each other, so why was he rushing into this of all things.
She gave him some time to cool off, think things over, and she hoped that they would be able to get past it. He had been drunk, after all, and he probably would brush it off as a mistake. Which it was. A mistake. He was probably regretting it just as much as she was. All they would have to do is talk it out and it would blow over. She hoped.
His door was open, so she paused in the entrance and rapped lightly against the doorframe. She paused for a moment, before waiting for him to look up at her before speaking.
"Hey. Can we talk?"
Alex looked up, knee deep in college football. Glancing at the computer and then back up, he shrugged and paused his iTunes. "The open door policy says we can," he answered. "But, yeah. I have time to spare." He turned his chair only slightly and swiveled back, bringing his hands together.
